Case study · Sutherland Shire custom cabinetry business

The unfair advantage, made visible

A Sutherland Shire custom cabinetry business held an exclusive partnership with a global European cabinetry house: a genuine unfair advantage that almost nobody could find. The client reports the cost of a lead has fallen by 90%, powered by a quoting innovation that asks for a phone video instead of a stranger in your home.

The starting point

An exclusive product nobody could find

The advantage was real. The visibility was not.

This business came to us in mid 2025 with a traffic problem and a lead problem. Through an exclusive partnership with a global European cabinetry house, it could put product on the table that the big kitchen and whole-home renovation players could not match. What it could not do was get found: the team’s energy was going into content for an ageing WordPress site that the algorithm simply ignored, and the numbers showed it. In the quarter before we engaged, the domain earned 35 organic clicks from 927 impressions at an average position of 47.9. Page five, in a market where renovation decisions start on page one.

The data diagnosed a twin problem: organic search, and the visual positioning to match the calibre of the product. With a limited budget and a founder who wanted to manage his own content, the answer was not a heavier website. It was a lighter one.

What we built

Rebrand, rebuild, and the least intrusive quote in the trade

Three months from engagement to a new digital presence, then the compounding began.

The data made the diagnosis

Our Snowball SEO platform mapped what the Shire actually searches for around kitchens, wardrobes and whole-home projects, and where the business stood: nowhere. Just as important, it showed that visibility alone would not convert against premium competitors while the brand looked smaller than its product.

A brand to match the product

We redeveloped the logo and visual identity in a more modern, iconic direction, so that when the new visibility arrived, what it revealed looked like the premium operation it actually is.

A lighter website, built for the founder

Rather than another heavyweight WordPress build, we moved the site to Squarespace: fast, structured for search, and simple enough that the founder can log in any time to edit pages, publish offers and add content himself, without the overhead of full site management. Three months into the engagement, the rebuilt presence went live.

The video quote that replaced the home visit

The rebuilt site launched with a smart quoting system: prospective clients film a quick 360° phone video of the space they want to renovate, and the founder returns indicative pricing, usually within 48 hours, before anyone spends time on site. It is the least intrusive call to action in the trade: no stranger in your home for two hours, no pushy conversation at the end of it.

The engine, then the amplifier

Ongoing SEO compounds the content layer (design guides and idea pieces that now rank top 10 nationally), and with the foundation converting, a Google Ads campaign now amplifies it. On the searches that matter most, the business is often on the first page twice: once earned, once paid, each reinforcing the other.

The rebuild went live in October 2025 and the average position more than halved within the quarter (49.8 to 19.2), then kept climbing as the content layer compounded. By Q2 2026 the domain averages position 11.4 across 4,143 keywords, from 47.9 across a handful a year earlier.

The comparison is the same quarter, one year apart. April to June 2025, before engagement: 35 clicks, 927 impressions, average position 47.9. April to June 2026: 372 clicks, 69,579 impressions, average position 11.4. The growth splits into two useful layers: the idea and design content now ranks top 10 nationally (corner wardrobe layouts, benchtop material comparisons, home bar designs), pulling future renovators into the funnel early, while the Shire’s commercial searches climb underneath, with the head local category term up 35 places in a year. And above the classic rankings sits the newest surface: Google’s AI answer, which now recommends the business by name for local renovation searches. Live-verified in July 2026, and exactly the trust position every business will be fighting for next.

Positions are averages for the window and branded queries are excluded from ranking highlights. The AI answer recommendation was verified in live searches in July 2026. The part that matters

What the visibility bought

Rankings fill the funnel. The quoting innovation converts it. These are the outcomes the client reports.

Cost per lead, down 90%

The combination of organic visibility, a converting site and video-first quoting cut the overall cost of a lead by 90% (reported by the client).

Indicative quotes in 48 hours

Prospective clients film their space on a phone; the founder returns indicative pricing usually within 48 hours, before anyone visits a site. Faster for him, friction-free for them.

Seen twice on page one

With organic established, Google Ads now amplifies the brand on the highest-intent searches, contributing additional wins and reinforcement (reported by the client).

The engagement keeps widening. We manage the website, SEO and Google Ads today, and the founder can log into his own site any time to publish content and offers, though he usually leaves it with us. Next on the roadmap: social media management, customer-success and case-study videos, and Meta advertising, taking the story the search engines already believe to the feeds where his customers scroll.

Why it worked

The Snowball Effect, in the renovation trade

Same method as every study in this section: the Snowball Effect run in order. The data diagnosed the real constraints, the brand and landing point were rebuilt to convert the demand, the content layer compounds the visibility, and paid amplification joined only once the organic foundation could carry it. The play holds at any scale because it is built on how people search, not on the size of the client or the sector they serve.

And the economics held the usual way: our platform carried the technical SEO, schema, tracking and analysis, so the budget went to the things a renovating homeowner actually judges, the brand, the site, the portfolio and a quoting experience that respects their living room.

Good questions

Case study FAQs

Why is the client not named?

Policy, not secrecy. A public client list with names and logos is a call list for every competitor who wants to poach them. We publish the work and the first-party numbers, keep the name private, never publish client financials, and will verify any figure in this case study with the live data in a one-to-one session.

Are these numbers real?

Yes. Every search figure is first-party Google Search Console data for the client’s domain, read in quarterly windows from April 2025 to June 2026, organic only; paid traffic is measured separately and never blended in. The comparison is the same quarter one year apart, branded queries are excluded from ranking highlights, and business outcomes such as the cost-per-lead reduction are labelled as reported by the client.

What is the video quoting system?

Instead of booking a home visit, a prospective client films a quick 360-degree video of the space on their phone and submits it through the website. The founder reviews the footage and returns an itemised, indicative quote, usually within 48 hours, before anyone spends time on site. It converts better because it costs the customer two minutes rather than an evening with a salesperson, and it is a large part of the 90% cost-per-lead reduction the client reports.

Does the growth come from SEO or the ads?

Every figure in the charts and tables on this page is organic search only. The Google Ads campaign joined after the organic foundation was converting, and the client reports it contributes additional wins and brand reinforcement, often appearing alongside the organic listing on the same first page. We publish the two channels honestly because they do different jobs: organic compounds, paid amplifies.

Would this work for my trade?

The sequence is trade-agnostic: find the demand in the data, make the brand worthy of the product, build a landing point that converts without friction, then compound with content and amplify with paid only when the foundation holds. If your business has a genuine advantage that your market cannot see, that is precisely the problem this method exists to fix.

What did the engagement cost?

Scope drives cost: this engagement combined data strategy, a rebrand, a website rebuild, a quoting integration, ongoing SEO and ads management. Rather than quote a figure that will not match your situation, see our guide to digital marketing costs in Australia, or start a project and we will scope it against your market and goals.
